Presenteeism (people working at reduced effectiveness while ill) is typically 1.5–3× the cost of absenteeism but is much harder to measure honestly. Patient outcomes in NHS settings, recovered teaching hours in schools, and reputational benefit during a public-health event are all real but excluded. If your finance team will accept presenteeism, multiply the annual saving by 2.0–2.5 as a sense-check.
