About the UVC 254 TRI Card

The Intellego UVC 254 TRI Card is a colour-changing UV-C dosimeter card that gives you visible, real-time proof that a germicidal dose has actually reached the surface you need to disinfect. Germicidal UV-C at 254 nm is invisible to the human eye, which creates the central compliance problem in every UV-C disinfection programme: without a UV-C dose indicator, you cannot demonstrate that a surface or cabinet interior received an effective dose. The TRI Card solves this by responding to three distinct germicidal thresholds — 25, 50 and 100 mJ/cm² — so a single card reports not merely that UV-C was present, but how much dose was delivered. Validated by RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), it turns an invisible process into documented, auditable evidence.

How the 254 nm UV-C dosimeter works

Each UVC 254 TRI Card carries a photochromic yellow indicator that changes colour in proportion to accumulated UV-C exposure. Placed with the yellow indicator facing the lamp, it reads the true dose reaching that position — whether on an open surface or deep inside a disinfection cabinet, where shadowing, distance and lamp degradation routinely reduce delivered dose below the level assumed on the specification sheet. Because it measures three thresholds, the card lets you confirm not just that a target dose was met but the margin by which it was met, supporting evidence-based cycle validation. It is engineered for 254 nm UV-C dosimeter applications and will validate the dose from any 254 nm device, independent of manufacturer.

Compliance and cycle validation

For infection-prevention teams, the value of a UV-C dose indicator lies in repeatable, defensible verification. Dosimetry accounts for the real-world variables — reflectivity, geometry, cabinet loading and lamp ageing — that theoretical exposure times overlook. Positioning TRI Cards at the hardest-to-reach points within a cycle establishes worst-case dose confirmation and builds a documented record for audit. The card is single use, ensuring each reading reflects a fresh, uncontaminated measurement, and its three-threshold format makes it straightforward to set and evidence pass criteria across routine validation and periodic requalification of equipment.

Specification and applications

The TRI Card measures 2.5″ × 3.5″ with adhesive backing for secure placement, is supplied 25 cards per bag, and carries a 3-year shelf life. It is used across healthcare, dental, schools, airports, hotels, restaurants, libraries and commercial spaces — anywhere UV-C disinfection must be proven rather than assumed. The minimum order quantity is 200 units (8 bags). Pricing is £91.50 per pouch of 25, or £668 per box of 10 pouches (inc VAT), with orders quoted in GBP, EUR or USD to suit your organisation.
