About the UV-MAX-D

The Light Progress UV-MAX-D is a high-output duct UV-C decontamination unit engineered as a UV barrier for the end segments of ventilation and HVAC systems. Distributed in the UK by VTM UK LTD, it is built to deliver reliable microbial decontamination precisely where it matters most: in the final duct runs before conditioned air reaches occupied spaces. By concentrating germicidal UV-C energy into a compact, high-intensity source, the UV-MAX-D holds its performance even at high air speeds and within narrow ducts, making it a robust choice for demanding building-services applications where consistent air hygiene is a compliance priority.

Mid-pressure UV-C for high-velocity HVAC ducts

At the heart of the unit is a mid-pressure UV-C lamp, available in either a 1000 W or 2000 W output. Mid-pressure UV lamps produce very high UV output from a compact source, which is exactly what high-velocity ducts require: where a conventional low-pressure lamp would need a much longer irradiation length to achieve equivalent dose, the mid-pressure UV-C HVAC approach concentrates that energy into a short, powerful barrier. This makes the UV-MAX-D well suited to installations where duct length is constrained or air is moving quickly. Ozone-free operation and durable stainless construction

The UV-MAX-D is ozone-free thanks to a special quartz housing, with the lamps built into a quartz tube. This construction blocks the ozone-generating wavelengths while transmitting the germicidal UV-C, so the unit can be used in ventilation systems without introducing ozone into the air stream — an important consideration for occupied and sensitive environments. The housing is manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel, giving corrosion resistance and mechanical durability appropriate to continuous duct-mounted service. Rated IP55 and built to class II, the unit is supplied with a separate ballast and external control housing to keep power and control electronics cleanly segregated from the air path.

Retrofit-ready installation and external servicing

Practical installation is central to the UV-MAX-D design. A retrofit adapter system allows the unit to be integrated into existing ductwork, and installation is carried out from outside the air duct — simplifying commissioning and reducing disruption to the ventilation system. This external-access arrangement also eases ongoing maintenance and lamp servicing, since the working components can be reached without dismantling the duct.
